Drop-off and collection:

Please drop off and collect children at the start and end of the day at the Y4 entrance point located to the right of the main East site entrance door.

Weekly timetabling:

PE kit is needed for sessions on Thursday. We also have Outdoor learning on this day too.

Weekly spelling lists are given to children and and should be learnt by the following week.

Children are heard reading weekly (individually and/or in a group), so please make sure that your child(ren) brings reading books everyday.

Library visits- the local library is visited fortnightly.

Notes for families:

It is important for your child to keep hydrated and drink water through the day so please supply your child with a bottle of fresh water each day.
For health and safety, children should be brought to school by families with appropriate clothing including waterproof coats with hoods on days when it might rain, warm coats when it could be cold, sunhats, sunglasses and sun-screen on days when it is particularly sunny and footwear that is suitable for wearing both in and out of doors.

Wellbeing, health and safety...

We work hard in Brynhyfryd Primary School to try and ensure the highest levels of child wellbeing, health and safety. In order to work in partnership with us we would ask that parents:

encourage the children to take reasonable care for their own health and safety at school and of their peers, teachers, support staff and any other person that may be at school.
Cooperate with teaching and support staff and follow all health and safety instructions given to parents and children when on school premises.
Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.
Report to a teacher or other member of school staff any health and safety concerns that they may have.

Ways to help...

* Meet your child's teacher and attend parent-teacher meetings. Keep in touch with your child's teacher, through Class Dojo platform.

* Encourage that your child gets homework done. If possible provide a quiet space for your child to concentrate on the tasks given.

* Find homework help for your child if needed. Firstly contact your child's teacher or click onto the child's side of the Year 4 class on here and take a look at all the great links.

* Demonstrate a positive attitude about education to your children. What we say and do in our daily lives can help them to develop positive attitudes toward school and learning and to build confidence in themselves as learners. Showing our children that we both value education and use it in our daily lives provides them with powerful models and contributes greatly to their success in school.

* Encourage your child to be responsible and work independently. Taking responsibility and working independently are important qualities for school success. You can help your child to develop these qualities by establish reasonable rules that you enforce consistently, making it clear to your child that he has to take responsibility for what he does, both at home and at school, showing your child how to break a job down into small steps, and monitor what your child does after school, in the evenings and on weekends.

* Encourage active learning. Children need active learning as well as quiet learning such as reading and doing homework. Active learning involves asking and answering questions, solving problems and exploring interests. Active learning also can take place when your child plays sports, spends time with friends, acts in a school play, plays a musical instrument or visits museums and bookstores. To promote active learning, listen to your child's ideas and respond to them. Let him jump in with questions and opinions when you read books together. When you encourage this type of give-and-take at home, your child's participation and interest in school is likely to increase.
