Executive Summary Of School Development Plan 2023-24

Our learner councils are advocates for their classes and take on leadership roles to ensure school improvement.

Since the pandemic, our Brynhyfryd Connected assemblies help the whole school come together. Our learner council members do their focussed work with pupil-voice, advocacy and agency in these assemblies. They also meet together at other times, but being all together helps make sure everyone is listened to.

Here is a list of our learner councils:

  • School Council
  • Rights Respecting Committee
  • Eco Committee
  • Digital Dudes
  • Criw Cymraeg

Here are some examples of things that we have agreed through our learner councils in Connected Assemblies:

Eco Committee advocates collected ideas from classes to help us all remember ways to make healthy, eco lunchboxes... don't forget to tell your families!

Digital Dudes' advocates collected ideas about ways to learn without screen time. Remember, nursery, reception and year 1 should have just 1 hour screen time a day: Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6- maximum of 2 hours a day!
